Social Services (Children and Young People)

The new SVQ in Social Services (Children and Young People) is the qualification which set out performance and knowledge standards for people who wish to work in childcare.   The SVQ is designed to be used in the workplace.

Level 2 Social Services (Children and Young People)
The course requires candidates to be working in a supported role, they should not be working unsupervised.


Level 3 Social Services (Children and Young People)
The course requires candidates to be working with minimal supervision and having a high degree of independence for the planning and promotion of the curriculum.

Candidates attend the centre for a weekly two hour evening tutorial, in order to gain the underpinning knowledge necessary for their qualification. The candidate requires to be working in an Early Years setting for at least sixteen hours per week, in order to gain the necessary experience.   They are assessed in the workplace and through a range of methods such as assignments, case studies and reflective accounts.
